- A leisurely afternoon in the park. Three canoes float in a placid section of the Current River, Port Arthur, near its mouth . A man stands beneath the trees on the shore., Just two years earlier, flood waters roared through this area, changing the shoreline completely. The Paquette dam had burst May 27, 1908, sending a wall of water down the Current River.
