Description
Prospected by Dan Willans and Bill Cochenour in 1928. In 1936, Dan Willans disappeared on a prospecting trip in the Lightning River area of Northeastern Ontario, and his body was never found. Three years after the Cochenour-Willans Gold Mine Limited was formed, the mine poured its first gold brick in 1939. Ore extracted from this mine totaled $41,461,878.00 with the payout of dividends in the lifetime of the mine being $6.2 million. The mine closed in 1974.
