THE BUSHWHACKERS | HATE To ADMIT IT BUT "WE DAYS ARE GETTING SHORTER, 'OH THAT'S JUST GREAT, ISN'T IT 7f | QUST BOUGHT THIS "TWENTY FOUR HOUR WATUS A SOFTBALL f Page 7, Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1992 Clean-up should recover ore continued from page 1 on the lake, but there was nobody home when I went around." Campeau says that the clean-up of the spill should allow for recovery of virtually all of the ore concentrate. The clean-up itself includes plans to replace the boom, which only has a plastic curtain below the surface to contain the ore concentrate, with an earth dam that would isolate the entire spill area. "There's a local gravel pit in the area, and they'll simply slowly take the material and close off the area," said Campeau. "Once that's in, the Site will be totally isolated from the rest of the lake." Once the dam is in place, the enclosed water will be vac- uumed out. After that, the zinc and copper ore will be dug out, and transported back to the mine. Mine Manager Tom Dick- son said he expected the zinc would be out of the lake and back at the mine sometime Sat- urday, Sept. 12. "We're not sure yet if we'll be able to process again, or if it will have to go into our tailings pond," said Dickson.
