The clean-up took place between Aug. 19 and Aug. 26. A group of 15 men and women carted about 450 bags of garbage out of the area surrounding the dump's pit, which the MNR has already reseeded. Greenpeace spokesperson Gord Perks says that no matter what arguments the industry uses, the fact remains that they are putting harmful substances into the environment. "We know that there are chemicals that scientists tell us we should stop dumping into the environment that are being produced directly from the use of chlorine," says Perks. "That's the only scientifically relevant information." But Grimm says that Kim- berly-Clark has made large strides in the past few years in reducing the harm to the envi- ronment.
