Nice work guys! staff photo Invitation to Nostalgia Days Neys Provincial Park will be holding its 7th annual Nostalgia Days, celebrating 4,000 years of history this August 7-9. Located 26 kms West of Marathon, Neys is well known for its beautiful campgrounds and rich history. The two km sand beach was a popular stopping point for Natives and Voyageurs who travelled along the coast:. During World War Two, Neys was home to over 500 German prisoners of war. The Visitor Centre at Neys houses displays on these and many other historical subjects. Lynda Horman, Park Superintendant says "The object is to bring history to life through guest participation in planned events. Visitors will have a chance to meet the ghosts of Neys. The games of days gone by will be brought back to life for campers of all ages to enjoy." During the celebrations we will have an array of special guests, speakers, traditional dance and native dance groups as well as our own programs and games. Everyone is encouraged to come out for the weekend, or for just a day, to experience history and have some fun. Get involved in the games; give a watermelon seed your best spit, or enjoy complimen- tary pea soup and bannock at our Voyager Encampment. Neys Park staff are always appreciative of old pho- tographs, scrapebooks or any other information pertaining to the history of the park and sur- rounding area. If you have something to share, bring it along, or contact the Ministry of Natural Resources. f- i: DIANNE O'NEILL A COMPLETE INSURANCE SERVICE COMPETITIVE RATES FOR QUALITY COVERAGE TERRACE BAY INSURANCE LTD. * Home * Business * Auto * Cottages * Recreational Vehicles * Etc.
