The refocusing of Terrace Bay District efforts to improve co-management partnerships with the public has already been increasing over the past year. The Rossport Island Devel- opment Board was organized with members of the public from Schreiber, Terrace Bay, Rossport and Pays Plat Indian Reservation. Its goal is to prepare a man- agement plan of the Rossport Islands. It is expected they will present a plan by early 1993 to assist and guide the develop- ment and uses of the Rossport Island Group. Another group, the Timber Management Plan Stakehold- ers Committee, is made up of member of the public from Manitouwadge and Caramat. Members come from both private and industrial back- grounds, and the group has been ongoing in Mani- touwadge to develop a five year plan for the Big Pic forest resource users. This major planning effort, including full public input, has recently been approved. Several other public adviso- ry committees will be working in partnership with MNR in the future on resource uses as diverse as timber harvesting, road uses and access, land use and development, fisheries and wildlife use plans, and brook harvest trout allocations. Ministry staff are also pro- viding their assistance as mem- bers on community committees such as tourism development, waterfront development and land use concerns. Copies of the "Terrace Bay District Market Analysis Study" by Lehman and Associ- ates, have been distributed to the public libraries and Town- ship Councils in Schreiber and Terrace Bay, as well as to Rossport and Pays Plat.
