"Now is not the time to go to the taxpayer and say we want to raise. your hydro rates by 30 or 40 per cent," Ziegler says. That how much rates would go up if Council tried to do all the work that needs to be done at one time, he says. "If you try to do all the work in one or two years, you're talking probably over a million dollars," Ziegler says. "And we just don't feel it's justified to borrow a million dollars when we can provide a more than adequate service to the taxpay- er with the course we've cho- sen." Bringing Wizard of Oz to the LSHS stage no small feat by Darren MacDonald The News Kim and Howard Alexander want to emphasize that their production of The Wizard of Oz is very much a "community effort." "People in the community see Howard and I doing things, but they have no idea that half the staff are doing stuff as well;" say Kim. In fact, Kim and Howard say that the staff of the high school and-the elementary schools have been instrumental in putting together this, their third and most ambitious production. In all, about 200 people have been involved one way or another with this year's musi- cal, which runs this weekend at Lake Superior High School. continued on page 6 The first full dress rehearsal at LSHS in Terrace Bay last Sunday night. £ F 'at \.._.
