Page 10, News, Tuesday, February 11, 1992 Terrace Bay skaters do well in Inter-Club Championships by Darren MacDonald The News The North Shore Inter-Club Figure skating Championships held in Terrace Bay last Jan. 31, Feb. 1 and 2 was, by all accounts, a big success. "The turnout has just been excellent," said organizer Susan Lubberdink. ""We've had super support from the community--we had 75 volunteers from Terrace Bay and Schreiber, represent- ing people of all ages in the community." There were large crowds all week-end watching the 199 figure skaters, and vendors selling memorabilia and figure skating supplies did a brisk business. The.only damper on the event was when one skater fell and split open her chin on the NORTH OF SUPERIOR PROGRAMS ice. She was rushed to the hos- pital where she received ten stitches. Aside from that, however, the week-end was a resounding success. Terrace Bay skaters did very well. Amanda McWatters took home two first place finishes, in both flight one of the Ladies Bronze Interpretive and the Ladies Preliminary "A" Free Skate. She also took third place in flight one of the Ladies Pre- preliminary Dance. Alyson Mannisto took a gold medal in flight two of the Jenny Baxter in flight three of the Ladies Bronze Interpretive.
