Ken Davis, President was in the chair. Minutes of the previous meetin gs were read by the secretary, Helen Jartus, who also gave the treasurer's report in the absence of the treasurer. Two guests of Eva and Alec Gordon who are visiting them from Edinburgh, Scotland were welcomed. Mr. and Mrs. John Matheson were wished a happy holiday in Schreiber. Eva Gordon gave her report as Card Secretary, having sent nemerous cards during the sum- mer. Several Thank You Cards were read from members who had been ill and sympathy cards, Thank You's from bereaved. Birchwood Terrace sent a note thanking the Chimo Club for inviting them to our annual picnic in July, and also for their picnic at Polly Lake which the Chimo Club members had attended in turn. Jack Handel gave a report on the Shuffleboard Committee meeting held earlier in the week to draw up a few rules for the future tournaments in addition to the ones in place now. Anyone wishing to play shuffleboard this year is asked to register before the deadline of Saturday, September 29th. It is expected . that play will begin on Tuesday, October 9th at 12:30 p.m. The Registration Form is on the bul- letin board in the Clubroom. Ken gave a resume of the meetings he had attended during the recess: Birchwood Terrace on the Seminar on Positive Aging; McCausland Hospital on the Disability Action Group. The Diabetic Association was granted use of the Clubroom once a month for their meeting. The O.P.P. requested volun- teers to assist with the Child Identification Programme on Sept. 22nd. Members were reminded of the Fall Bazaar to be held on Saturday, November 3rd in the Clubroom. Knitting, sewing, baking, etc. will be required. Skip Davis was nominated to look after the Memorial Book at the Clubrooms. Instead of a film, it was decided to play bingo at our next meeting to use the bingo machine donated to us by the Tenant Council of Matthew Court in Thunder Bay, and a letter of thanks was sent to Emma Paske for her efforts. Birthdays were celebrated by Fred Harness, Eva Gordon and Tom Webb. Following the meeting, lunch was enjoyed, and shuffleboard, was played with winners being: Beth Macadam and Celia - Valentino, first; Mel Webb and Myra Holmes, second. Blood Pressure Clinic is on Monday, October 1st at 3 p.m., at the Clubroom. The Chimo Club with over 40 members present attended a Memorial Service on Sat. Sept. 22nd for Maybelle Furlonger in the Anglican Church. The ser- vice was read by Club Chaplain, Beth Macadam. Our sincere sympathy to the Furlonger family. On Monday, September 24th, the congregation of St. John's Anglican Church were honoured with the visit of The Right Reverend Leslie Petersen, Bishop of the Diocese of Algoma. A pot- luck supper preceded . the Communion Service celebrated by the Bishop, assisted by Rev. Bob Elkin. The choir was in attendance and added greatly to the service.
