The matter of financial assistance fro from the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines will also be investigated. It was suggested that the Township should initiate a policy whereby townspeople could obtain gravel from the Township licensed pit at a nomial cost. Council agreed to the plan in principal and also agreed to apply for a 5 year gravel pit permit. The Ministry of Transportation has refused to grant permission for the east end entrance of Mountainview Drive onto Highway 17. The tentative delivery date of the new fire truck is April 14 or ai; Some difficulties have risen with the Ministry of the Environment, concerning the approval of the site selected for the construction of new Sludge Drying Beds. Engineer will take up with the Ministry. The new ambulance garage in Terrace Bay will open May 12. 'I'he Township will support the VIP program sponsored by the Schreiber Public School. The week of May 7-12 will be Clean Up Week. J. Este, Township Engineer, will attend a Good Roads Association Course on May 6-9. temperature as lake Superior to aid the fish on their long trip. The fish, about 15 months old, are brood stock from the Slate Islands. They were raised at the fish hatchery in Dorion before being transported back to Lake Superior. Three cans fit on a sled that are pulled by skidoo to the planting point. When the fish arrive at the plant- ing point, they are dumped in Lake Superior. The fish have quite a good survival rate but are sometimes prey to seagulls. The MNR are_ planting helping hand 250,000 lake trout this year in five different locations. 50,000 fish are planted in the lakes at Prairie River, the Tailrace, Coldwell, Rossport and Angler Creek. By doing this every year, the MNR ensures that the Terrace Bay district remains a quality fishing area for years to come.
