Alf, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Bugs Bunny, & more History will be made Saturday, April 21 when all major televi- sion networks in North America simultaneously broadcasts a half- hour, commercial-free, animated, substance abuse special aimed at children 5 to 11 years old. The all-star cast will include: Alf, Bugs Bunny, The Chipmunks, Daffy Duck, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, Garfield, Ghostbusters (Slimer), Kermit, Miss Piggy, The Smurfs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Michaelangelo), Winnie the Pooh, and Tigger, too. As you are well aware, sub- stance abuse is reaching epidemic proportions in our society. Ronald McDonald Children's Charities, who are providing grant for the project, shares the concern of police departments, teachers, parents, and social agen- cies regarding one of the prob- lem's most frightening facets - the increasing involvement of young children. RMCC is proud to be part of this effort to educate our children about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. A portion of the funds from RMCC will be used to help rein- force the program's abuse mes- sage. Fifty thousand French and English video cassettes of the show will be produced for com- munity use. More than 4,500 major video outlets will receive copies to be made available free- of-charge for family viewing. Sabres win Int. finals By Angie Saunders The Schreiber Intermediate No Body Contact league finals took place on Wednesday, March 21. The Sabres defeated the Diesels with a score of 7-3 to become the champions for the '89-90 season. Lordy, Lordy, Scoring the 3 goals for the 9 Diesels were Gord McKenzie, Bottomley Ss Ted Velanoff and John McKay. ' The scoring of the game by the Sabres was divided between five players. Lawrence McParland ® was the lead scorer with three lh goals and one assist. Albert Ray scored two goals and one assist. Fred Figliomeni scored the first and last goals of the game.
