Houston, Councillors: Gs Joubert, M. King ,and J. St. Amand,,and staff: D. Fulton and L. Mitchell. A gift was prescnted to the first baby born at McCausland Hospital to Terrace Bay residents- Sarah Marie Glad, daughter of Daniel and Catherine. A new auger will be purchased for the Public Works Department snow blower from Marmac Limited of Toronto at an estimat- ed cost of $9,500.00. The terms and conditions of the Municipal Economic Development Agency (MEDA) Grant will be accepted. The Corporation of the Township of Terrace Bay will join Northcare at a fee of $100.00. All members of the Council, Acting Medical Health Officer Mrs. Marlene Besignano, Chairman of the Board of Health, is pleased to announce that Dr. Otto Salonen has been appointed acting Medical Officer of Health. Dr. Salonen will commence these duties as of March 11th, 1990. Dr. Salonen has served in this role for the Thunder Bay District Health Unit during a prior period of time when the position of Medical Officer of Health posi- tion was vacant. The Board of Health is cur- rently advertising to fill the pos- tion on a full time basis, and is being assisted by the Ministry of Health in this endeavor. Medical Officers of Health from the neighboring Algoma and Northwestern Health Units, and Ministry of Health consultants, arc available to the Thunder Bay District Health Unit in emergency situations. _-- Briefs the Clerk-Treasurer Administer and the Deputy Clerk-Treasurer 'will be authorized to attend the Thunder Bay District Municipal League 1990 Annual Convention in Thunder Bay, March 1-3 at the expense of the municipality. The Council will donate $50.00 to St. John's Ambulance. Council will support the pro- posed CMHC Rural and Native Housing Program. By-Law No. 4-90 being a By- Law to amend By-Law No. 7-86 was finally passed this 12th day of February. By-Law No. 4-90, authorizing the municipality to enter into a contract for the development, operation and maintenance of O.M.P.P.A.C. passed this 12th day of February. Reeve Jim Ziegler and Police Chief Don Kidder will attend the MPA Joint Meeting in Sault Ste. Marie, February 23, zt the expense of the municipality. Council accepted the recom- mendation of the Planning Advisory Committee dated February 8, 1990 regarding Costa's Food Market and proceed with the passage of a By-law to stop up, close and sell the affect- ed portion of Sclkirk Avenue. All costs of such are to be incurred by Costa's Foods.
