Wednesday, December 13, 1989 TERRACE BAY/SCHREIBER NEWS _ Programs promote healthy lifestyle & offer pounce nets The North of Superior Programs held their Annual Corporation Meeting in aad October in Marathon. This meeting had the highést attendance rate of the general public ever at an Annual Meeting of the program. The meeting was held to review the work of the various programs (Community Development, Mental Health, Substance Abuse,) to elect new board members from the region and to pass bylaws of the corpo- ration. Reports on the previous year were given by president, Bessie Newman; Executive Director, Sally Laine; Mental Health Director, Ilse Thorst; Community Development Director, Cathy Tyhurst; Substance Abuse Director, Jim Grant; Treasurer, Wayne Kushnier. Each report focused on the changes that have been occurring with each program and the total agency and about the positive and enthusiastic outlook for the com- ing year. The agency is looking forward to meeting even more needs of the community as the community identifies them to their workers and board mem- bers. The North of Superior Programs is an umbrella organi- zation providing services in three related areas throughout the dis- trict. The programs focus on one-to- one or family counselling, assess- ment and referral of substance abuse problems and prevention programs to promote a healthy lifestyle. LaBarge added if there is a fire call, the bus driver will be present at all times and can move the bus to accommo- date the fire department. LaBarge said the main reason for the move was because the prior location on the Mill Road was a poor one, was difficult for people to get to and did not have good operating hours. "We cater to people without cars and although the other agent was good, the location was poor. We'd like to thank him (Steve Barry) " for the time he was our agent, saidHorn. _ LaBarge said, "what you have to look at is what's better for the people. We have. to have a valid reason for changing locations. This (J.C.T.) is a central location and has excellent hours." The Terrace Bay stop will not ¢ RT be an extended one - just long enough to drop off and -pick up passengers and parcels. LaBarge said Greyhound wanted to make the move before Christmas because it will better serve the larger number of sea- sonal travellers and also make it easier for people who are picking up and delivering parcels. J.C.T. will also be offering the service of picking up parcels to be put on the bus and delivering parcels which come in on the bus. The busses will leave J.C.T. going west at 1:05 a.m., 5:55 a.m., 10:35 a.m. and 7:20 p.m. Busses heading east will leave at 1:05 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 2:05 p.m. and 10:35 p.m. Greyhound celebrated its 60th anniversary of operations on Nov. 30, 1989 and is running a contest until March 30, 1990. No pur- chase is necessary and a number of trips can be won. Entry forms are available at J.C.T. Pizza. Blouses, Skirts, Jeans, Slacks, Sweaters Evenings Til 9: 00 p. m.
