A special thanks to all the pool staff for making the Swimming Program a success this summer. Swim the Slates A total of 16 swimmers com- pleted their journey to the Slate Islands (via the Terrace Bay Swimming Pool). They are to be commended for coming out dur- ing those cool early morning hours - Congratulations Swimmers! You did it Bill! Summer Playground The final day for this program was last Thursday. A special thanks to all the parents who helped make the "Pot Luck Supper" on August 18 so success- ful. A total of 72 attended the din- ner. On Monday, August 22nd the staff hosted their Annual Sleepover. It was an evening filled with movies, stories and lit- tle sleep from all reports. Those attending had a great time. Hope everyone caught-up on their sleep! A special thanks to Sharon, Jeff and Cindy for providing a fun-filled summer for everyone! Soccer The Soccer Program will fin- ish this week. A special thanks to Bill McDougall and Ryan Singleton for organizing the pro- gram. To all the coaches and ref- erees - a big thank you for volun- teering your time this summer, and helping make this program so successful. To all the players - Hope you had a good season. School is your respon = Motorists overtaking a stopped school bus with red lights flashing on any high- way, must stop at least 20 metres behind the bus. = Motorists may not proceed until the bus resumes motion, or the lights have stopped flashing. A driver, convicted of failing to stop when required, can be penalized 6 demerit points, plus a fine of $100 to $500 for a first offence. This increases to 6 demerit points plus a fine of $250 to $1000 and/or impris- onment for up to six months for each sub- sequent offence. Drivers should also be alert when school buses are near railway crossings. All school buses transporting children to and from school must stop at any railway crossing that is not protected by gates or railway crossing signals; some school bus drivers choose to stop at protected crossings as well.
