This is the first of a two part article written by Constable Bert Logan, Schreiber O.PP. Insurance All snowmobiles must have a valid insurance policy and a copy must be produced to the police offi- cer when stopped. The fine for hav- ing no insurance is $103.75. The fine for "not producing your insur- ance certificate or copy" is $53.75. Permit All motor snow vehicles must be registered and a permit affixed to your registration number on your snow machine. The valid ownership for the machine, or copy, should be pro- duced when stopped by police. A valid permit must also be in place. The fine for each offence is $28.75. Age & Licences for Driving Your Snowmobile é Drivers 16 and over To drive a snowmobile on a roadway a person must be sixteen years of age or older and must have a valid Ontario drivers licence or snowmobile operator's licence. Licenced operators can drive across a highway at a 90 degree angle. Drivers under 16 years Licenced drivers (with snowmo- bile operator's licence) aged 12 and 13 may operate a snowmobile on trails. A 14 or 15 year old (with operators licence) may operate on trails and cross a highway at a 90 degree angle. Note: 1. it is illegal for anyone to drive on Highway 17 with a snowmobile except to cross at a 90 degree angle. 2. All persons stopped by Police must produce a valid licence. Helmets A helmet complying with stan- dards for motorcycle helmets must be wor by every person driving or riding on a motorized snow vehi- cle, or on a cutter, toboggan or sled towed by a motorized snow vehi- cle. Officiating at the service was Father Ken O'Keefe and Reverend Elliston Bridges. Jenny Stewart, sister of the bride was maid of honour. Lisa Fournier, Karen Fournier, sisters of the groom, Tracy Stewart, sister-in-law of the bride, were bridesmaids. Oswald Burhmann, friend of the groom was best man. Dan Fournier, brother of the groom, Tom Stewart, Rob Stewart, brothers of the bride and Brian Legree, friend of the groom were ushers. Many out of town friends and family attended to participate in this celebration. The couple honeymooned in Puerto Vallarta and are currently residing in London, Ontario.
