By Johanne Bolduc CEC Placement Officer The first step toward finding a job is to take a look at yourself and the job market. Be as honest and objective as you can, and take the time to explore a few questions: Why do I want to work? What are my immediate and long-range goals? What are my talents and skills? What are my weaknesses? What type of job and salary can I reasonably expect? ~ If you have answered these questions in an honest and confi- dent manner, you will know exact- ly what you are looking for. No matter what kind of employ- ment a person chooses, one might be required to complete an applica- tion, a resume, or a letter of appli- cation, as well as to attend an inter- view. If you have doubts in your mind on how to perform any of these professional job-seeking tech- niques, the local Canada Employment Centre for Students has just the answer. The centre has developed book- lets detailing step-by-step informa- tion on how to learn these tech- niques. These booklets will guide you, and will give you the edge against the competition. If you need any assistance with the procedures leading up to a suc- cessful job search, please do not hesitate to visit the Canada Employment Centre for Students. We may just be the help you have been looking for!
