Resident scolds council's actions on the A&W issue! from page 4 If Mr. Bagdon wants. to put the whole town on a profit sharing scheme, then by all means contin- ue. If not, then I suggest that town council re-evaluate their priori- ties. Before any agreements are made it's going to cost the taxpay- ers $8,000 for a new electrical service. This is just the beginning. What else is council going to hide? I say 'hide' because I found out on Jan. 4, one day before, that such a proposal might be institut- ed and I'm sure a lot of the town was in the same position. Just because you were elected to do a job does not give council carte blanche to do what you please. The town has a right to know! Has council really pondered the situation? Will this be in the town's best interest? Make a deci- sion that you can live with and not one that sounds good at pre- sent. pass the time? If Mr. Bagdon really wants an A&W in Terrace Bay, then he should pursue this on his own instead of getting a free ride from the town. I'm sure he has the time and resources from being a successful businessman to take on such an endeavour. The townspeople may not have been so concerned if a laa! per- son were to suggest such u pro- ject, but to have an individual who has never lived here, paid taxes or contributed to the town in any way be given such a chance; I hardly think so. I'm sure the other businesses in town would like to be subsidized by council. Does council truly and honestly have all the facts concerning this issue or are they recklessly making decisions as they go? Come on council, make a deci- sion that will benefit the town and not just a few. The people of Terrace Bay deserve better than this and they have the right to know. Gary Gusul. Council decided, considering the increased operating costs the new proposal would generate, and the substantial capital costs involved, that the matter of supporting the proposed plan by resolution by left until a later date. * = * * J. Speziale was advised to apply to the Committee of Adjustment for the minor variance concerning the rear yard allowance, and to apply in writing to the township for a zoning change; which would amend the bylaw to include a convenience store in the permitted uses of the Highway Commercial Zone. * * * - Two additional firemen have joined the Schreiber Fire Department; they are Albert Courtemanche and Randy Bolan. - Some members of council expressed concern about the overall lack of cleanliness in the recreation complex kitchen. The ministry has met with the company to advise them how to operate the facility properly. On-site tests were conducted last summer and again early this year, and will continue through the life of the facility, the letter stated.
