Page 5, News, Wednesday, February 10, 1988 Girl Guides learning first aid By Ken Lusk The News Several weeks ago the local Boy Scouts received their bronze badge for first aid, and now the Girl Guides have learned the same skills that will most likely be very necessary in the years ahead. On Monday night, Feb. 1, the lst Terrace Bay Guide Company and the Pathfinder Unit, were part of a demonstration that tested their skills in first aid. Dave Allan, supervisor from the McCausland Hospital Ambulance Service, was on hand for casualty simulation that night Schreiber's Winnie's By Winnie Campbell Congratulations to Kay and Alec Furyk on their SOth Anniversary. A baby shower was held at the home of Tammy Mineau in hon- our of Mr. and Mrs. David Leblanc who had the New Year's baby. Many gifts were received and lunch served. Robin says thanks to all. The girls, some from Schreiber as well, have been working on The funeral of the late Mrs. Earl Welbourne was held at Holy Angels Church. Many friends and relations attended. A tea was held after the mass in the parish centre. Assisting was Mrs. Helen Leblanc and Brenda Campbell and Carol Marshall. Our deepest sympathy to Earl and family in the loss of a dear mother and friend of all; also deepest sympa- thy to the family of Charlie Pearson. Many relations and friends attended the funeral of Mrs. Inez McCuaig at the United Church. Rev. Hunt spoke of Inez as a their First Aid Badge and have for the last three weeks been tak- ing a first aid course. Monday night's exercise was the culmination of what they learned. The Girl Guides only were working on their badge; the Pathfinders were there just to observe and learn.
