Phidippides introduces him to Todd Brooker, Barbara Ann Scott, Steve Collins, Nancy Greene, Tony Nash, Vic Emery, Jungle Jim Hunter... Not only does Leon have a unique opportunity to interview these sports greats, but he befriends them, coaches them, argues with them and finally competes with them, experiencing the glory of winning, the agony of defeat and the unrelenting quest for Olympic gold. The Games of Winter Show also gave people the opportunity to expe- rience a delightful and entertaining chance to celebrate the essential spirit of the intemational Olympics and to appreciate the courage and stamina of our outstanding Canadian athletes. How did Shinniman skate at the high-school? Well, sheets of teflon flooring Ontario, Figure Skating Club, has competed both nationally and interna- tionally and he is a double gold medallist. On tour with the Ice Capades for six years, he has also performed pro- fessionally in Stars on Ice, Radio City. Music-Hall, Nutcracker, The Magic Plant, Romeo and Juliet and The DeFasco Christmas Special. With Olympic Gold Medallist Robin Cousins, he toured a rock pro- duction throughout England and the Far East. A Rider van was obtained and all the equipment for the show had to be loaded onto the van from the broken down truck. Arrival was at 5 p.m., three hours later then intended, but the show was ready to go at 8 p.m. sharp, said Main. 20 people were involved who helped set up the stage, even the actors and people from the local Entertainment Series.
