Page 6, Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Wednesday, September 23, 1987 Pouliot succeeds with driver examinations Mr. Gilles Pouliot, Dear Gilles, This will acknowledge receipt of your letter of June 1, 1987, in which you expressed your con- cerns respecting the long waiting period for driver licence examina- tions at the ministry offices in Northwestern Ontario. The information brought to your attention is quite correct in respect to road-test waiting times. Due to the high demand for road tests on a provincial basis, a "standard waiting time" of six to eight weeks falls within the min- istry's current customer servide targets. This backlog fluctuates sea- sonally and is at its highest during Thank-you After 38 years in Terrace Bay, it is hard to find the words to say good-bye. We have had wonderful times and made many great friendships. Thank-you to all who had June through October. However, I am pleased to inform you that a complete review of driver examination ser- vices is currently underway to establish appropriate staffing lev- els at not only the Thunder Bay office, but at all Driver Examination Centres within the provincial network. It, therefore, gives me pleasure to inform you that this review has already recognized that there has been a shortfall in terms of staffing in the Thunder Bay Driver Examination Centre. As a result, I have approved additional staffing in order to meet the unusually- high demand for driver examination road tests in Thunder Bay and the surround- ing areas. I regret any inconvenience experienced by the citizens of Northwestern Ontario in obtain- ing road tests quickly. I can assure you that every endeavour is being made to ensure that waiting times for road tests are reasonable. Thank-you for bringing this matter to my attention. yours sincerely, Ed Fulton, minister of Transportation and Communications. Residents denied continued from page 4 We also have some concerns about the site itself. Other than the land adjacent to the beach, the terrain does not Iend itself to pic- bar-b-ques, dinners and parties before our depart- ure. We will treasure our memories and miss all our terrific friends and neighbours. If ever down our way, please feel free to drop in. Once again, "Thank-you" to each and every one of you. 3 God Bless, Albert and Aline Cadieux. : BOYS SCOUTS OF CANADA SCHREIBER DIVISION Urgently required Beaver & Cub Leaders and group Committee Members!
