We were so proud and happy to win second place with our float. Both staff and residents put _ in long hours to make this float and I want to thank them for all their hard work. Another event which took place at Birchwood was the "Baby Pageant". We had over 40 sweet adorable babies here and I can tell you it was not an easy task to pick out the winners. I for one would have loved to give all of them prizes. The judges for this event were Blanche Speck, Felix Legault, John Hachey, Melvin Cady and myself. Our thanks to all the mothers and their babiés. On Tuesday the home was fairly quiet, so we could rest up for our bar-b-que and games. We were so happy to have our friends from Schreiber here to enjoy themselves. Our staff had arranged several different games to be played including lawn darts, croquet, horseshoes and the egg race. When these games were over we all sat back and enjoyed our hot dogs and hamburgers, along with our friends and a lot of chatting- talking over old times. Several of the residents went to the golf course for the beer gar- den. They all said they had a good time, maybe a bit tired but they are now all rested up and ready for some summer outings in our bus. It sure was a fun week and our thanks to all those who worked so hard to make it for us a very nice "memory". ee ee I have just a "wee bite" today, _and it's one I think the parents can help with and it's this- "Please, those of you who ride bikes, don't leave them lying on the sidewalk in front of stores. It's not easy to step over them and besides some- one maybe getting hurt, your bikes could be damaged, so kids, how about it? Try to remember to park them out of the way and thank-you." This is all from yours truely today so I'll close with this wee joke- "Woman to bridge club members- I have the most won- derful recipe for goulash- all I have to do is mention it to my husband and he says 'Let's eat out'." Until next time- Adios.
