\] Page 2, Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Wednesday, May 13, 1987 Terrace Bay Recreation Department News Minor Ball Umpire & Coaching Clinics: Saturday, May 23 A reminder is extended to all those who have generously given their names as volunteers for the Terrace Bay Minor Ball Program this year. There will be a Minor Ball Umpire Clinic held in the Schreiber Recreation Complex on Saturday, May.23, from 10 a.m. to noon. This clinic is designed to pro- vide the recreational umpire with an introduction to the basic rules of the game. All coaches are reminded of the Coaching Clinic to be held in the Schreiber complex on Satur- day, May 23, from 1-4 p.m. This clinic will provide Minor Ball coaches with an introduction to the basic skills of the game. Included will be methods of skill instrucion, useful drills and ideas on how to organize a practice. Transportation from Terrace Bay will be provided for parents, umpires and coaches. Call the recreation office in Terrace Bay at 3542 or in Schreiber at 2317 to register for more information. Bronze Cross Course The Township of Hornepayne will be hosting a Bronze Cross Course from May 15 to May 17. Prerequisites for this course are: must be 14 years of age and must have a Bronze Medallion and Senior Resuscitation. Sneaker Day- Friday May 22 Sneaker Day is a celebration of physical activity in which all Ter- race Bay residents and businesses are invited to participate by wearing their sneakers or runn- ing shoes (safety permitting) all day. What better way to start celebrating Canada _ fitweek- "Kick it off with Sneaker Day". North Shore Recreation Direc- tors' Fun Run- Monday, May 25 Everyone is cordially invited to participate in this year's N.S.R.D. Fun Run. This event encourages anyone young or old to walk, run, crawl, bike, or hop a one-mile circuit. "We need you to participate". All participants will receive a Fun Run button. KENNEDY - Mr. Joseph Alban Kennedy, aged 64 years of Ter- race Bay passed away in hospital on Tuesday, May 5, 1987. He was born February 23, 1923 in Fort William. He enlisted in the Navy in 1941 and served on board the HMCS Algoma. Former member of the Terrace Bay Separate School Board and was elected Diocesan Separate School Trustee for Thunder Bay District. Former member of the Terrace Bay Coun- cil, he was active with the Liberal Party in Terrace Bay and a member of St. Martin's Parish. Formerly employed with Kimber- Clark for 35 years. Survived by his wife, Mary-Clare; sons Jerald and wife Lori of Mississauga; Patrick and Carol of Sardis, B.C.;Kenneth and Helle of Dragor, Denmark; James of Ed- monton; Richard and Sui of Van- couver; Joseph of Terrace Bay; daughters, Linda of Vancouver; Mary-Jo and husband Guy Mageau of Terrace Bay; Carol and Michael Koshowski of Terrace Bay; Dorothy of Edmonton; also suvived by his mother Gertrude of Ottawa, sisters, Mary and brother- in-law Niel Hinsperger of Mississauga; Ruth and Herb Linke of Ottawa; brother Bart and Judy of Boston, Mass. Also survived by 15. loving grandchildren. Predeceased by his father, Alban and sister Grace Rowan. Resting at St. Martin's R.C. Church. Funeral Mass on Friday at 11:00 A.M.
