Page 2, Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Wednesday, March 25, 1987 Bits and Bites _ By Helene Ballard Hello! I am writing this.on the first day of spring. Boy! that sounds good- even if we did have a mild winter, this ole gal did not go out much for health reasons, so I feel like a school kid on the first day of summer holidays. I sure hope everybody is enjoying our nice mild weather. On Tuesday March 17, we had our "St. Patrick Tea' and the hard working ladies of the Birchwood Auxiliary were the hostesses. And as usual they did a superb job of it. The weather was-nice which is always a big help in any event like this. On behalf of the residents I would like to thank the ladies for their work- also thank-you to all who helped-in any way, and to those of you who came to the tea. The door prize was won by Theresa Martin and the beautiful St. Pat's cake was won by Stacey Wallwin. I would like to thank the Ladies' Auxiliary to the McCausland Hospital for that St. Pat's cake- it was very kind of you to think of us. We had a nice surprise for din- ner on the March 17. We enjoyed some very delicious desserts made and donated to us by Stella Gusul, who I am sure is a busy lady but who found time to do this for the residents- thank-you Stella. On March 19 we had our mon- thly birthday party, and our Birth- day kids were: Angus Mishquart, Spencer Wilson, Paymyre Waghorn, Rita Gaffney, and Bill Schelling. To all of them we say Birthday Greetings. Our hostesses for this month's party were the ladies from Pen- ticostal Church. After our cake and coffee we enjoyed a 'song-along'. We all want to thank these ladies for their kindness on our behalf. We had an unexpected event at our birthday party when Bill and Mary Schelling were presented with plaque on the happy occasion of their 60th Wedding Anniver- sary. Mr. George Ramsay and Mr. Bob Krause made the presentation to them- we wish both of them more years together. Bill and Mary received con- gratulations from H.M. Queen Elizabeth II, the prime minister of Canada as well as the premier of * Ontario. As I have said it has been a busy week but a happy one here at Birchwood. Well enough for this week, do stay well, 'till mext time, this bit of 'fluff'.
