The recreation depart- ment extends a thank you to the many user groups of the Arena, Curling Club and Bowling Lanes for a great season. These three facilities are the more ac- tive components of the Recreation Centre and we thank you for your co- operation this past season. We will see you next fall and encourage you to let us know if there is any im- provement we can make to make the facilities more satisfying to the user groups. We are always open for discussion and we encourage your input. Ball Leagues: Please submit your field requirements to the recrea- tion office by May 2 to enable leagues to prepare their schedule. The fields will be available for use beginning May 19. Please submit your field time re- quests by May 2 to be con- sidered with all others. The policy for users of the field has changed to read, '*All participants in any ball league must be valid recreation members."' Single activity memberships are available at the Recreation Centre. Cost $30. Mixed Slow Pitch: Teams wishing to enter are reminded that a meeting has been held and the maximum number of teams allowed to enter will be soon met. Men's Slow Pitch: News has reached this office that the Men's League is ready to go with a complete complement of 10 teams entered this season. The league is also planning their annual tour- nament on July 25, 26 and et: Minor Ball: Once again the Recrea- tion Department will be co- ordinating the Minor Ball Program. We will be star- ting around May 18 and would appreciate hearing from anyone who would be wiling. to donate approx- imately two hours per week to assist with coaching, umpiring, etc. We are an- ticipating another: great year with over 100 youngsters being involved. We need your help and comments to improve this program for our youth. Arena Summer Indoor Recreation Program: We have made an ap- plication to the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation for a youth for organize a summer indoor recreation program and your sugges- tions on activities would be appreciated. North Shore Director's Fun, Run, Walk 86 -- May 26: Less than five weeks away WILL we go down to defeat again this year or will we gain the banner that declares the fittest com- munity. Watch for details or call the office if you have suggestions or challenges. "Where Is The Music" To date we have receiv- ed very little response to our request for information on the whereabouts of the Sheet Music and In- struments that belonged to the Terrace Bay Communi- ty Concert Band. Anyone having any in- formation on the aforemen- tioned music and in- struments is asked to please -contact Bill Houston or Terry Bryson. This music was given out in good faith and we would appreciate having it returned. Spring and Summer Brochure: The new updated 1986 Recreation Department In- formation Brochure is now available at the Office. Valuable information on the Recreation facilities and activities for visitors or new-residents can be ob- tained by picking up a copy today. Programs: Gwen Black and Maureen Tychoniak will be holding another six week session of their respective exercise classes. These ses- sions will be open to those who have previously par- ticipated in Gwen or Maureen's class. Drying Plants: The date May 3 is fast approaching for the Drying Plant seminar being con- ducted by Eleanor Gould. This program will show the participant how to collect, preserve and care for plants which may be used later for decorating purposes. The making of a Pot Pourri will also be demonstrated. Pre-Retirement Planning: This one evening seminar will be held on April 24 from 7 to 9 p.m. Participants will be given information on how to prepare for retirement both physically and financially.
