The Fun Run is scheduled for May 26 at 7 p.m. and we all are well aware who our competition is again this year. Slow Pitch Mixed Meeting A reminder for all those interested in Mixed Slow Pitch. There is a very im- portant meeting scheduled for April 14 at 8 p.m. in the Conference Room. Everyone is welcome. Attention Ball Players: There has been a change to the Recreation Policy that affects your participa- tion at the ballfield. To be consistent with other recreation facilities, par- ticipants who use the ballfield for league play Sportsmen's Show held last month ""Get hooked on Nor- thern Ontario" was the theme Northern Tourism Entrepreneurs used at this year's Toronto Sport- smen's Show to lure pro- spective tourists to the region, according to a news release from the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines. Dozens of Northern On- tario tourist promoters and travel association represen- tatives were at the show, which was held last month. They shared a common area, sponsored by the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, promoting the unlimited outdoor activities and first class accomodation to be found throughout the North. Over 100 Northern Pro- moters at the Toronto show rented their own space. The Ministry had purchas- ed additional space to pro- vide a consolidated exhibit area which promoted Nor- thern Ontario in a profes- sional way and offers Tourism information on the Region all under one roof. Inside the walls of the specially. designed Nor- thern Consolidated display , exhibitors had informative audio visual presentations and brochures on excellent lodges, camping facilities and points of interest that are just hours. away from the hustle and bustle of southern Ontario city life. In the centre of the ex- hibit, a stage sponsored by the Ministry features the art of mounting fish and other game by Espanola taxider- mist John Haegaman, and the unique paintings by Sudbury native artist Doug Fox. Tourism is rapidly becoming one of Northern Ontario's main industries, providing about 30,000 jobs in the region. The Ministry of Northern Development and Mines is continuing support for tourism in Northern On- tario by providing funds for major attractions, in- dividual operators and pro- Slowpitch on Men's Slowpitch A number of people have expressed an interest in starting. a Men's Slowpitch League this year in Schreiber. There will be an organizational meeting on Thursday, April 17 at 7 p-m. in the Art Room of the Schreiber Recreation Complex. This will be your only chance to let your in- terest be known. If you" wish to play but cannot make the meeting, call the recreation office at 824-2317 and leave your name and_ telephone number. Mixed Slowpitch A very important organizational meeting will be held Tuesday, April 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the Art Room of the recreation complex. Anyone wishing to register a team must be present at this meeting. Field Meeting A field meeting will be held Monday, April 28 at 7 p.m. in Meeting Room No. 1. The purpose of the meeting will be to schedule field time for all leagues for the 1986 season. Any organization not represented will get whatever field time is left over. Spring Programs Anyone who has ideas and Summer for possible programs should contact the recrea- tion office at 824-2317. Ball Hockey An organizational meeting will be held Mon- day, April 21 at 7 p.m. in Meeting Room No. 1. We wish to have the league started by the first of May and discuss the possibility of having a tournament ear- ly in June. Summer Employment Anyone wishing to app- ly for a summer position with the Schreiber Recrea- tion Department should pick up an application at the recreation office as soon as possible. Positions are available for Schreiber Green, Summer Fun and the Swim Program. Aerobics The final session of Aerobics before the sum- mer break will begin on Tuesday, April 15 and run to Thursday, May 22 under the instruction of Betty Tate. Classes run each Tuesday and Thursday in either the afternoon from 2 to 3 or in the evening from 8:45 to 9:45. Please remember that you must register before attending your first session.
