They were written after they were ask- ed what Christmas means to them. Christmas means Santa Claus puts candy canes under the tree. (Wendy Morrison) Christmas means time for love and joy. (Dallas MacLeod) Christmas means Mrs. Claus makes hot chocolate for Santa. (Dani Garon) Santa Claus puts the presents under the tree. (Jessica Hodder) Christmas means toys. Mrs. Claus bakes a cake for lunch to eat and cookies and a candle. (Craig Gilmore) Christmas means_ ice fishing and hot chocolate, North Pole, snowflakes. Ho Ho Ho! (Jake Schmeidehen) Christmas means Christmas bells. (Jeff Schroeder) ~ Christmas means Mrs. Claus makes a cake for Santa Claus (Hilary Stewart) Christmas 1s for remembering. (Lynsey LeBlanc) Christmas means time for love and joy. (Jackie Flear) Peace at Christmas Is it possible to fashion a political platform out of - a Christmas theme? We could start with: peace on earth, goodwill towards all people. A recent Canadian survey has shown that the people of our nation put world peace near the top of their list of concerns. We want to see a de-escalation of the arms race; we want an easing of tensions bet- ween the two superpowers -- the U.S.A. and the US.S:R: Instead of building ever greater arsenals of modern our attention should be focused on mak- ing sure no one goes to bed hungry, eradicating disease, and providing education opportunities for all the world's children. We must ensure that everyone has an adequate supply of good, clear drinking water, and that decent homes and shelters are built for families everywhere. Peace on earth makes a policy of goodwill possible. In Canada we still have much to accomplish in rid- ding our minds and hearts of unjust prejudice towards others, eliminating pover- ty and providing job oppor- tunties, especially for our youth. Christmas provides all we need in that regard, with its message of peace on earth and goodwill towards all people.
