Mrs. San- di Taylor, local president, made the presentation to Ms. Mary Burnett, Acting Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Project Mayday. The Lake Superior Women Teachers' Assoc. represents women teachers in public elementary schools in Manitouwadge, Marathon, Terrace Bay and Schreiber. Ms. Burnett commented that Project Mayday has many plans for the future aimed at helping women in the communities of Rossport, Schreiber, Ter- race Bay, Marathon and Manitouwadge. These future plans include the publication and distribution of a Research Report, a North Shore Women's Conference, and plans to take action in all com- munities to address women's concerns, to name a few. Project May- day's first project, the establishment of a transi- tion house, has just receiv- ed approval and funding details from the Ministry of Community and Social Services. They feel that this is a'first step, however, and they will continue to lobby for the services and policy changes necessary to improve the lives of women in the five communities.
