Winter Carnival The 1985 Schreiber Winter Carnival will be held from March 9th to 17th. There will be an organizational meeting at the Complex on Wednes- day, January 23rd at 7:30 p-m. Any groups of in- terested individuals who would like to assist with the Carnival is invited to attend. Paper Quilling The Paper Quilling Course will be held Friday, February Ist and Saturday February 2nd under the in- struction of Shannon Riley. The course will run Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 and Saturday from 9:00 to 12:00 and 1:00 to 5:00. There are a few openings left in this course. Anyone interested should contact the Recreation Office at 824-2317. Fitness and Weight Skaters line-up for show. Schreiber Rec. News Training Clinic The dates for this clinic have been changed from Saturday, February 23rd to Saturday, March 2nd. In- structions will be given on the use of the different equipment as well as the areas of the anatomy that it helps develop. If enough interest is shown in setting up individual fitness pro- grams, we will schedule in- dividual time on Sunday, March 3rd. Recreation Committee The Recreation Commit- tee will be accepting ap- plications for the Commit- tee until 5:00 p.m. January 28th. Anyone who is in- terested in the advancement of Recreation in Schreiber is invited to send in their application. 1985 Recreation Budget The Recreation Budget is presently working on it's 1985 budget. If anyone has a request for items or pro- grams that they would like to see included in the budget please forward them to the Committee before 5:00 p.m. January 28th, 1985. Ball Park Development There will be a public meeting held at the Recrea- tion Complex on Tuesday, January 29 at 7:30 p.m. This meeting will be the final meeting to discuss the various possibilities for the development of the ball park area. North Shore Recreation Directors Hockey Jamboree The hockey Jamboree will be held in Marathon February 22nd, 23rd and 24th. It is open to anyone between the ages of 9 and 12 years. There is no cost for the program, everyone will be billeted. The idea behind the Jamboree is skill development and fun. You do not have to be a hockey player to participate, however you must have full equipment and supply your own skates. For more information please contact the _ Recreation Co- ordinator at 824-2317. Little Stars on Ice By SANDRA SEBESTYEN Come on out and sup- port our local kids at the 11th North Shore Inter- club figure skating com- petition. An annual event in Thunder Country Region. Eleven Clubs are invited, Thunder Bay, Manetouwadge, Horn- payne; Geraldton. It will be held in Terrace Bay at the arena on January 26, 1985. Curlers at Hornepayne Terrace Bay men's curl- ing teams were involved in the district play downs held in Hornepayne _ the weekend of January 4, 5, and 6th. The senior team, skipped by B. Roberts Sr. emerged victorious. The remaining team members are K. Johnson at third, S. Chalmers second and P. Malashewski lead. The senior team will be in Marathon, for the zone playdowns on January 17, 18 and 19th. The junior team, skipped by D. Weberg was not as suc- cessful in its quest for a championship. Other team members were K. Seidel and P. Commisso. The an- nual Terrace Bay men's open curling bonspiel is be- ing held the weekend of January 25, 26 and 27. The bonspiel chairman, T. O'Neill, informed us that the bonspiel has a full com- plement of 32 teams. The teams are from Thunder Bay, Nipigon, Red Rock, Schreiber and Terrace Bay. There will be some ex- cellent curling ~ this weekend for those wishing to observe from the club lounge or from the activi- ty room. A report of the curling standings will be printed next week.
