Canada is one of 113 countries marking IYY. The year was designated by the United Nations. The Secretariat for Social Development, through its International Youth Year Co-ordination Unit, is leading Ontario's participation. "I believe that the dreams of the young are the touchstones of our chang- ing society," said the Honourable Gordon H. Dean, Provincial Secretary for Social Development and M.P.P. for Went- worth. "The motivation, energy, and achievements of Ontario's youth make them one of this province's greatest resources," said Mr. Dean.
