Community Mental Health Appointment Jeanette Callahan has recently been appointed to the position of Direct- or of Community De- velopment- with the North of Superior Com- munity Mental Health Program. Ms. Callahan has liv- ed and worked in North- western Ontario since 1977. She has a strong background and _inter- est in community de- velopment and mental health. Ms. Callahan's therapy as well as com- munity mental health education. Subsequent- ly, she became involv- ed in the development of - community based men- tal health programs in which she participated in training local native people in counselling techniques and com- munity development. She also acted as a supervisor to the Native Mental Health Program which is now fully oper- C.H.R.'s in the man- agement of mental health problems. Most recently, Jean- ette was the acting Health Educator for Sioux Lookout Zone Hospital and was res- ponsible for beginning to plan and implement health promotion activi- ties on reserve and in the hospital. Ms. Callahan's aca- demic background is a varied and interesting one. She graduated from the University of Water- loo in 1977 with an Hon- ours Bachelor of Science 'in Health Studies. She . pursued a postgraduate diploma from the School of Public Health at Bost- on University.
