Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Wednesday, August 15, 1984, page 5 | Community ees Bits and Bites by HELENE BALLARD Let me introduce my- self, Hello, I'm Helene. I was asked if I would like to write a newsy column for our local rag. Well, here I am gazing out of my window wat- ching the dense fog roll- ing in and out, and feeling my thoughts are just as dense and down as the day. I am the kind of person, you might say a chameleon, when the day is bright and light and breezy so am I, when it's damp and dark, well, enough said. Here goes with my first edition, a best seller? Not this time round, but I'm trying, I'm trying. ,_. First: with the bits. Our therapist, Bill Glas- sier and his wife Nicole, are the proud parents of a baby boy, we under- stand Mother and Baby are now home from Thunder Bay, and doing quite well, congratu- lations. Mr. and Mrs. Phil Arsenault of Kirkland Lake were visitors to Birchwood Terrace on Wednesday last week, and had a pleasant time seeing old friends and reminiscing about their days at Birchwood when they were residents. Nice to see you and have a good holiday. Peggy Regis has re- turned to duties after her holidays, and in- forms us that her son, Ralph is slowly recup- erating from his motor- bike accident, they were hoping to have him home last week, but he now is undergoing skin grafts, so it will be some time yet before Ralph is home. Best wishes for a speedy recovery Ralph. Keep your chin u Peggy. , We said goodbye to a good friend and house- keeper, Joyce Matush, Wednesday, after many years residing in Tér- race, coming here as a war bride, and working at Birchwood for 10 years. She and her hus- band are retiring to the east coast, Frederic- ton to be exact, where her family and grand- children live, so happy retirement days Joyce, and hope you enjoy the lovely picture the house- keeping staff presented to you of 'the Terrace Bay Beach, remember- ing us and the many walks you and your hus- band enjoyed down there. The staff gave Joyce an afternoon tea with lots of beautiful pastries, and the other departments gave a brass clock with circul- ating pendulums and a lovely crystal dish, pic- tures were taken along with the tears of regret from most of us as well as Joyce. Good luck and come back and see us.
