The Terrace Bay Fire Department held its regular drills for the month of March. The firefighters responded to six (6) call outs from March 6th to March 28th. March 6th (2:30 p.m.) false alarm at 98 Hud- son Drive; March 6th (6:15 p.m.) false alarm at Birchwood Terrace; March 14th (1:24 p.m.) chimney fire at 649 Superior Ave.; March 17th (1:00 p-m.) no fire - faulty fur- nace at the Community Church; March 23rd (9:00 p-m.) vehicle fire at the Rec Centre; March 28th (12:35 p.m.) false alarm at Birchwood Terrace. For the interest in Fire Safety regarding electrical appliances, re- member these six steps: 1) Certification: Before buying an electri- cal appliance, make sure that it has been certi- fied by a recognized national certification and testing agency. Unplug them before cleaning. 4) Have Defective Ap- pliances checked: If ap- pliances spark, overheat, or stall, pull Birthday Week Update Following the Thurs- day, March = 29th meeting of the "Birth- day Week" Celebrations Committee Meeting, the Committee wishes to give you an update on what will take place during this week-long event. The U.P.I.U. will be sponsoring a day care centre during the Town Barbecue (picnic) and possibly at other times during the week. The Committee is re- questing people of the area, to come forth with any old photographs or memorabilia from days before Terrace Bay was incorporated as a township until present time. These will be re- photographed and plac- ed into two albums - one for the Mayor of TungKang during his visit to Terrace Bay, and one for permanent display at the Terrace Bay Library. Keep this in mind and Attention ¥ "Stars'"' Watciiers The Schreiber Junior North Stars will be host- ing the Western Junior B Playdowns the week- end of April 13, 14 and 15th. Teams will be coming from Thunder Bay and Manitoba to play against the "Stars." Eight hockey games, guaranteed to be exciting, will be played at the Schreiber Arena. The North Stars rep- resent the entire North Shore and invite all hockey fans in the area to attend the games and social functions planned in conjunction with the Playdowns.
