Box 579, Terrace Bay, or bring it to our office at Simcoe Plaza World Scout Jamboree ae continued from page 14 vices, the Canadian Armed Forces, and the Alberta Forest Ser- vices. Three sub- camps; Caribou, Otter and Beaver were totally wiped out; Fox and Buffalo were badly dam- aged. Several Scouts from the troop I was with, were sent to the Canadian Armed For- ces (on site) Hospital for exposure. From the above you might think it was a bad way to start off the Jamboree but the rest of the eleven days of the Jamboree were very successful. There were lots of activities such as: River Rafting, Archery, Trees for Tomorrow, Western activities, Pio- neering, National 'Sports, Trap Shooting, Moto-Cross and much, much more. An Air Show was provided by the Canadian Armed Forces (Snow Birds), - and the Army Para- troopers. We also visit- ed Banff and attended the Calgary Stampede. It was a great experi- ence' meeting Boy Scouts and Girl Guides from all around the world. The' next Jam- boree will be held in Australia and I am setting sights to obtain that goal and partici- pating. as a Scout Leader. A special thanks to my Scout Leader, Mel Met- calf, of Terrace Bay Boy Scout Troop, for his tolerance and teaching; the Scout Committee for their gift of $50.00 to- ward my spending mo- nies; and an extra spe- cial thanks to my pa- rents who stood behind me financially to help make this trip possible. Also to Cathy Cook who helped serve the hun- gty group who pulled into our yard on July ist -- for lunch.
