community news N.S.D.R.C.S.S.B. be available at Costa's, monthy meeting The regular meeting of the North of Superior District Roman Catholic Separate School Board will be held on Thurs- day, September 22nd at the St. Martin School in Terrace Bay. The meet- ing will commence at 7:00 p.m. sharp. Hospital ; Auxiliary The first regular meeting of the Auxiliary to the McCausland Hos- pital was held Sept. 19th in the hospital, Terrace Bay. The report on the Fall Fair shows the Auxiliary's partici- pation to have been a great success and they would like to thank everyone for their con- tributions of time and talents, towards making this a profitable venture. A letter was received from the hospital Board of Governors thanking the Auxiliary for their donation of $7000.00 towards the purchase of a fetal monitor. This do- nation was in keping with the main aim of the Auxiliary, that of as- sisting the hospital in the provision of the best patient care, through fund raising projects and our annual member- ship drive. This _be- comes a community ef- fort and the participa- tion of all members in Terrace Bay, Schreiber and Rossport is appre- ciated. The membership drive this year will take place the week of Oct. 17-24th and canvassers will be out to solicit your support. A Harvest Dance will be held Saturday, Octo- ber ist in the High School, Terrace Bay from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Music will be by Partie Sound- and a lunch will be served. Tickets may be pur- chased from Auxiliary members and will also Thursday and Friday, Sept. 29th and 30th. Come out and enjoy good music and a good time. The special speaker for the evening was Bar- bara Lalonde, who spoke on the "Focus on Faith" day to be held Satur- day, Sept. 24, 1983 in St. Martin's School. Her presentation was in- formative and well re- ceived by all. Anna McKie gave a report on the "Arts and Craft" table held on Sunday, Sept. 11, 1983 during the Fall Fair and also Anna showed beau- tiful articles hand made for our upcoming Bazaar. Angela Stachiw won the free draw, a picture done in calligraphy. Maria Hermes gave a report on "Maple Leaf Canada Packers la- bels.'" Maria encour- aged all ladies to save the labels. Events coming up are the Fall Harvest Festi- val Bazaar, October 22, , 1983, CWL Regional meeting coming up on Monday, October 17, 1983 beginning with Mass at 7:00 p.m. This meeting will begin at 7:45 p.m. Claire Roen talked about the Craft Ses- sions held each Tues- day afternoon at 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the church basement. This is a fun time, encouraging all ladies to come together to work on crafts as a group or individual crafts. Marylyn Turcotte _gave a report on last summer's Graduation at St. Martin' School. Bibles were presented to each student on behalf of the Parish and CWL, a symbol of the graduat- ing student's faith. Each Bible is personally in- scribed with the student's name, plus a Scripture Verse. Memberships are drawn up into monthly teams with a Captain for each team so each mem- ber is included in parti- cipating for coffee and lunch for whichever month they are in. Cap- tains are responsible for organizing and calling their people. Edna Ramsey will be head of Guidelines -for the an- nual Diocesan Conven- tion. A Statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary has been passed from home to home for saying the Rosary, that through Mary's intercession she will bring us closer to Jesus, our Redeemer, in this special Holy Year of Redemption, called by Pope John Paul II to commemorate the 1,950th Anniversary of Jesus's death and Resurrection.
