See you there!!! Mixed slow pitch - season ends The Mixed Slow Pitch season ended on Thurs- day, August 25th and the activity proved to be a very successful new programme for Terrace Bay. Four teams participat- ed in the league and the style of play was both fun and entertaining for the participants and fans who watched. The Treetoppers team finished in first place by winning 6 games. Sec- ond place went to the Bad News Bears who won 4 games. Third and Fourth place was shar- ed by the Crushers and the Woodlanders. We hope this activity will continue next year and we hope to see the RE: \ G ' regulars back and also some new players and teams. Water Polo in Terrace Bay A new sport has been introduced to Terrace Bay youth with great success. The North Shore Recreation Di- rector's Association has brought Water Polo to each of their communi- ties this summer. The skills of the sport were taught and evaluated in each community and at- tempts were made to form teams and have a jamboree in August in Terrace Bay. Come time for the jamboree and only Marathon and Ter- ,race Bay were suc- cessful. in forming a team. The weekend after the evaluation, there was an exhibition match be- tween the Terrace Bay and Marathon teams. Despite the torrential downpour, Captain Cur- tis Evoy lead the Ter- race Bay team to an 8-1 victory. Referee, Kevin Duguay, complimented the players of both teams on their skills, considering they were new to the sport. Kevin presented participation certificates to all mem- bers of both teams. The Schreiber Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with Con- federation College, Fit- ness Ontario and Hock- ey Ontario are sponsor- ing a pre-season "Dry Land" hockey school. This unique hockey school will provide Mi- nor Hockey coaches and volunteers with valu- able information and tips on fitness for hockey players. Session will include: weight training, circuit training, fitness meas- surement, stretching, exercise and ball hock- ey.
