Page 6, Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Wednesday, July 6, 1983 Rossport Fish Derby continued from page 1 the weighing stage, thus 'leaving them to the mercy of flies and rays of the sun which made them not favourable eating. This year the weighing-in secretary Beverly Legault had cut large fish from colored cardboard or bristle- board with a space left on which to attach a card indicating the size of the fish and the name of the contestant. It was very attractive and also let the sportsmen pack their fish in ice ready for the freezer. It sure was a step in the right way. Lester Legault was the official weighing mas- ter. He comes from a long line of a commer- cial fishing experts. Music blared from the new sets of booths and all the booths did a thriving business during the weekend. We had a derby dance this year sponsored by the Fire- fighters organization on Friday night, then a beer garden all after- noon and evening on Saturday. Kimberly Clark gave the Derby committee three bunk house trailers which were made ready to accommodate the vari- ous concessions. There were a novelty, Rossport T-shirts and caps in one booth, beer garden in another, confections, cigarettes while another sold coffee and other supplies, there was a pop booth and the im- portant hot dog and hamburger stand in another all doing a very good business. They were manned by local residents. The following list of the winners handed to your corresspondant for news copy. If some of the list is incorrect, do not phone me but con- tact the derby commit- tee. First prize went to Bob Pidluzny of Terrace Bay with an_ eleven pound fourteen ounce trout.
