Box 579, Terrace Bay, or bring it to our office at Simcoe Plaza | Editorial... continued from page 4 again at the last Board Meeting that the rea- sons for Closure were financial. Schreiber went to the moral equivalent of War to keep its school. Schreiber won. An abundance of funds have been provided for in the Allan Report to operate the school, the funds. are there year after year, and as bud- get costs increase so do the funds. Every point raised has been provid- ed for. One of the results of this War has been a deep distrust and. ani- mosity between Schrei- ber and Terrace Bay. Many people in Schrei- ber sincerely believe that their neighbours have turned on them when they most needed them. They have seen Trustees from Terrace Bay foremost in the drive to Close their school. They feel that they were left to fight alone and that their most bitter enemies were two elected rep- resentatives of the peo- ple of Terrace Bay. The typical reaction has been, "We stood alone and won, but just wait until Terrace Bay needs help, they can take a flying leap off a ----". Just as this paper stood behind the. people of Schreiber in their fight because they were right, we 'now say that they are wrong about the people of Terrace Bay. The great majority of the people of Terrace Bay have felt the deep- est and closest sym- pathy for Schreiber in the last year. The peo- ple of Schreiber should feel the greatest pride in their decision to take on the whole world, in the skill with which they conducted their cam- paign, and in the vindi- cation for that decision which they won with the Allan Report. But that Victory holds no room for vindictiveness - it only cheapens the Vic- tory. The time has come for the Trustees from Ter- race Bay to perform an act of Statesmanship. They must move to heal this rift between the communities. Schreiber has fought singlehand- ed, and has won the money, has won the right to keep its school. It is now up to the repre- sentatives of the people of Terrace Bay to set the seal on the Reconcilia- tion between the com- munities by voting in favour of Schreiber and its school. The smart buyers shop the Want Ads first. there was no guarantee that if money was pro- vided it would be there year 'after year, and there was no guarantee that any money provided would keep up to the actual costs of operating the school. That situation has not changed, the remnant of the Trustees who voted for Closure, the ones who survived last No- vember's elections, said ANNOUNCEMENTS Needs your rugs sham- pooed?
