JUNIOR GIRLS GYMNASTICS: A11 persons who took the Junior Gymnastics program prior to Christmas should register at the Recreation Office no later than Wednesday, Jan. 31st if they wish to enroll in this upcoming class. MWe hope to begin the program on Tuesday, February 6th and operate 10 sessions, to be completed in mid April. Those who were not able to take the previous course or wish to enrol in this class may put their names on a waiting list by calling the Recreation Office at 3542. FITNESS ROOM: We hope to have all equipment installed by the end of next week. The following week we hope to have an Open House where people can come in and inspect the equipment as well as find out deta- ils as to how the equipment is used and programs that will be offered. BASKETBALL SCHOOL: The Recreation Department is now confirming the dates of Febrary 24th and 25th for a Basketball school for coaches as well as basketball players (boys and girls) of High School age. The instructors for this clinic will be Jack Donahue, the nation -a] Basketball team coach and also Canadian Olympic Basketball coach and Don Jones, the Canadian Olympic team trainer. Hope- fully all details of this clinic will be in next week's News, and at that time we will specify registration dates. Persons interested in this clinic should notify the Recreation Office and leave their names. CONFEDERATION COLLEGE COURSES - "THE LAW AND YOU" and YEHINESE COOKING" The above courses will be held in Terrace Bay dpending on . the registration response. |f you are interested in taking ei- ther of these courses, please call the Recreation Office and register. We have not been informed of the dates and particu=- lars on these courses but we hope the Chinese Cooking will be an advanced course and a beginners course, held separately. BOXING CLUB: We are pleased to inform interested junior Boxers that the club is now re-forming. The coaches will meet next week and determine regular practise times for all Boxers. We will also phone all Boxers next week, giving them up-to-date information on this club. Because of the number of participants, we are always in need of adult volunteers to guarantee the success of this program. If you can spare a night each week to help with this program as a supervisor or maybe a member of the executive, we would appreciate hearing from you. Call the Recreation Office at 3542. COMING EVENTS: Nursing Interest Group Meeting - Monday, February 5th, 8 p.m. Bi rchwood Terrace. CURLING NEWS This month has been quite busy for Terrace Bay curlers. The Men's Zone 4 playdouns were held on January 19-21 in Man- itouwadge. Our men's club was represented by Mike Fenton and his team of Ken Johnson, Tony Commisso and Pat Spadoni. After a six game roundrobin schedule the host team from Manitouwadge emerged as the victors with a 5-1 record. Terrace Bay ended up in fourth place in this highly competitive tournament. The zone playdown for mixed curlers will be held in Terrace Bay this weekend. Terrace Bay will be well represented by Barry Harper and his team of -Marianne McDougall, Paul Gauthier and Brenda Harper. The Mixed Association will also be hosted by the Terrace Bay Curling Club later in February. As well as Junior curling at the High School level, is an elementary school curling program in operation. This is open to all students of grades 7 and 8 in Terrace Bay. Two sessions involving mainly instruction have already been held. We are anxious to have more curlers sign up so that teams can be formed. The next session will be this Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Curling Club. Any persons having brooms which are still in good shape and not in use, can call R. Jowitt (3240) as we are very short of supplies for junior curlers. there NOTICE - DEDICATION SERVICE M11 parishioners and donaters to the Memorial Organ Fund are invited to attend the dedication Services at St. John's Church, Schreiber on Sunday, January 28th at 11:15 a.m. for a special Memorial Organ Dedication Service.
