PAGE 22 TERRACE BAY NEWS OCTOBER 12, 1978 TERRACE BAY POLICE DEPARTMENT During the past two weeks, members of the Terrace Bay Police Force were called upon to investigate 48 occurrences. On September 30th a complaint of assault was received from a member of the C.P, Rail section gang. Eight local males have been charged with assault causing bodily ham, break and enter with intent and mischief. Three employees of the section gang required medical attention and an estimated $3,500.00 in dama- ge was caused to the railway car and contents. On October 1st, the Terrace Bay Police assisted the 0.P.P. 6 km east of Terrace Bay when a transport truck overturned and the driver was killed. : The following day, a quantity of copper pipe was stolen from the Terrace Heights sub division and a radio was stolen from Waghorn's Pharmacy. Police also recovered a stolen auto from Thunder Bay, abandoned in the downtown area. During the day of October 3rd, a fail to remain accident was reported to police with damage in excess of $500.00 and a quantity of building material was stolen from the new sub division. The latter theft is under investigation and should be cleared in the near future. On October 4th, police investigated a single vehicle collision resulting in excess of $400.00 damage. One local person was charged for being intoxicated in a public place and lodged in the cells, a charge of speeding was also laid, as well as a charge of driving while disqualified under the Criminal Code. The following day a motorist was charged under the By-Law for driving on school property, a motor vehicle collision was in- vestigated and another motorist was charged with driving a vehicle with no valid plate and failing to stop for a police vehicle. While on patrol, officers noted damage to the golf course caused by a vehicle on fairway #. On October 9th, police investigated a single vehicle collis- ion on Radisson Avenue and the driver has been charged with careless driving. COURT NEWS: Michel Savard and Normand Locas of Laval, Quebec entered a plea of guilty to Possession of a prohibited weapon, Break 'Enter and Theft, Theft under $200. and Possession of stolen auto and received six months in jail plus two years proba- tion, thirty days concurrent, thirty days consecutive and ten days concurrent. Jean Claude Emonds also of Laval, Quebec was charged with possess on of stolen property, Theft under $200. and poss- ° ession of a narcotic and received six months in jail, thirty days concurrent and two years probation. Tomy Trapp of Terrace Bay entered a plea of guilty to dangerous driving and was fined $300.00 and had his driving licence suspended for six months.
