Winning the raffle was especially exciting to Ted since he is to be married soon. Included in his "loot" was a stereo from Robinson's; a saw from Cebrario's; $100. worth of meat from Costa's; a movie camera from Terry's Gun and Camera; luggage from Moore's; a ladies watch from Waghorn's; a bowl from Soughton's and a vacuum cleaner from Kodila's. Word has been received at the Terrace Bay News Office that Warren Northcott-was a winner in the Elmer Safety Contest ##% in the 12-14 Year 01d category. The Elmer Safety Contest is run free of charge each summer by the Terrace Bay News Office and sponsored by the Ontario Safety League. * Congratulations Warren. COUNCIL QUOTES The regular meeting of the Council of the Township of Terrace Bay was held on September 25th at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers. In attendance were Reeve C. Brassard, Councillors M. Hamilton, P. Romanuk, G. Ramsay and K. Macleod Clerk Co-Ordinator W. Hanley and M. Simmer. Minutes of the previous meeting were adopted as presented. A motion was passed to engage Ontario Hydro for linework bas- ed on an estimate of $7,300.00. The work will include the placing of additional street lighting poles and provision of line maintenance assistance. The Ontario Police Commission has provided information regarding procedures for citizens who wish to file complaints against police. Marj Hamilton will attend a meeting October 21st in Thun- der Bay to discuss childrens' services as they apply to the city of Thunder Bay and surrounding districts. The District Health Unit advised Council that it will no longer pay expenses for out of town trips by delegates be- cause of a change to the Municipal Act. A motion was passed to cover expenses for Marj Hamilton's trip to attend the Thunder Bay District Health Unit meeting on October 27th. A new door and frame will be installed in the Police Office to the extent of $625.00. Premier Bill Davis advised that Ed Cavanaugh received a Queen's Jubilee Medal for his active involvement in commun- ity affairs. A letter of congratulations from Council will- be forthcoming to Mr. Cavanaugh. Council also agreed to send letters of appreciation to the staff of Birchwood Terrace, Harry Gusul and Bill Houston for their helpful assistance at the dinner party held for "continued page 6 ..... hori
