Simmer, from the Township of Terrace Bay Municipal Office. Photo by Bev Cadene. The Award of Merit is presented to the Township of Terrace Bay by Wendy Culverhouse, Student Placement Officer for the Canada Manpower Centre for Students, in recognition of the con- tribution to and active participation in Canada's national "Hi re-A-Student" program. During the early months of the summer the Township made use of the CMC:S' services in order to obtain si xty students for em -ployment,on a casual basis during the Town clean-up. Such em- ployment opportunities, although only a few days in duration, provided work for.many students under 16 years of age. This ige group is usually the most difficult to place in any type of summer job. Also, as a result of the Township's co-operation the stu- ents sale was made possible. Consequently, this presentation of the certificate is a fom if thanks from both CMC-S and the students themselves to the Township of Terrace Bay as well as to the many members of the surrounding communities for their active involvement in the li re=-A-Student campaign.
