AUGUST 2, 1978 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 5 TERRACE BAY Tr POLICE DEPARTMENT During the period of 24 to 30 July, members of the Terrace Bay Police were called upon to investigate twenty-nine occur- rences. & With the purchase of a new radar gun, the Terrace Bay Force has been checking speeders regularly with twelve charges being laid in the past week. Police are investigating a break in at the snack bar where an undetemined amount of chips and pop was taken. Police also apprehended a male person, identified as Blaine Curtis Neely, as he was ransacking Cameron's Texaco. Neely was charged with Break, Enter and Theft as well as one .count of mischief. Neely appeared in Thunder Bay court and received 30 days in jail on the Break and Enter charge and ordered to pay : $1000.00 restitution on the damages sustained in the offence. One offence of wilful damage was investigated when a Greyhound bus had a turquoise stripe painted in the rear as it was parked at the Recreation Centre. This matter has since been cleared. Two motor vehicles were stolen during the past week. Brian Hiller of Schreiber reported his auto stolen from Simcoe Plaza. This vehicle was later: recovered in Marathon with extensive damage and the persons responsible have been arested and charged by Marathon Police. : A vehicle owned by Werner Hermes was taken from the front of a residence and later recovered in the area of the new hospital site. A hitchiker was taken to hospital after being struck on the forehead with a pop can thrown by a passing motorist. Police also attended three motor vehicle collisions resulting in property damage with no injuries. Deanna Zroback has been employed in the Police Office for the summer months as a clerk receptionist. Deanna has been hired on the Experience 78 program and employed by the Solicitor General of Ontario. ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT The engagement of Marcia, daughter of Mrs. Irene Nicol and the late Melvin Nicol of Terrace Bay, to Graham Coe, son of Mr. Harry Coe of Thunder Bay and the late Norine Coe is announced with pleasure by Marcia's mother.
