PAGE 6 TERRACE BAY NEWS * NORTHERN PYRITES SPOON STARTS HOBBY Marj Lundberg and some of her Photo above by Bev Cadene. spoonts from her collection. _ Marj Lundberg, an avid spoon collector, would be interested in knowing if anyone has a spoon with the engraving "Horthern Pyrites Mine", depicting an elderly miner. Marj became interested in spoons eight years ago, when she came across the "Northern Pyrites" spoon which she had inher- ited from her father. Her curiousity inspired her to write a letter to what was then the Times-Journal, asking if any rea- ders were aware of the spoon's origin. She was rewarded with a letter from a Winnipeg woman, infoming her that the Northern Pyrites Mine had been located eight miles west of Winnipeg some ~time before 1922. Marj is wondering is there are any similar spoons. : : Flin Her collection spans several countries, including Japan, Sweden and Turkey, and she has approximately sixty-five spoons. "It is not a difficult hobby", says Marj, "because friends and relatives, knowing of my collection, often purchase spoons for me in their travels". ~ . Perhaps you have a hobby or special interest that you would like to share with the people of Terrace Bay and area. Mhy not give Bev Cadene, at 825-9177, a call?
