PAYS PLAT VIA ROS3PORT POT 2RO REEVE'S PROCLAMATION National Week for Mentally Retarded WHEREAS Mental Retardation is one of the most prevalent handicaps of children and adults; AND WHEREAS it is now known that with proper perinatal care, good nutrition and health practices, and early infant intervention, many causes of mental retardation can be prevented; AND WHEREAS this communi ty can only benefit, both socially and eccnomically, from promoting programs to reduce the incidence and prevalence of 'handicapping conditions, such as mental retardation; AND WHEREAS the Schreiber-Terrace Bay Association is a voluntary association of citizens working together in a supportive role fo promote "A Good Start in Life" for all babies; AND WHEREAS at this time the Schreiber-Terrace Bay Association is seeking public understanding and support for its community awareness program; NOW THEREFORE |, Cyril Brassard, Reeve of the Township of Terrace Bay, do hereby proclaim the period of time from May 7 to May 14, (inclusive) 1978, as National Week on Mental Retardation, and urge every member of this community to actively support the public awareness program which will help to ensure "A Good Start in Life" for all children.
