HOSPITAL A spokesman for the Ministry of Health (Toronto) confirmed that Gateway Building Company of Thunder Bay has been awarded the contract for construction of the new McCausland Hospital. Construction is due to begin in mid-April and should be completed within about 80 weeks. Now, more than before, contributions to the Building Fund are necessary as once construction begins we must be prepared to pay the costs as different phases of the construction are completed, The artist's picture of the new hospital is now in the window of Macleod's in Schreiber. It was in the Credit Union window in Terrace Bay. Over the next few weeks we'll present block plans of the different areas of the hospital; showing where one area links up with another. The March meeting of the Regular Board took place on the 7th, 1978 at Schreiber High School. . Twelve members were present. Jan McEwen - Chairman called the meeting to order. Corrections were made in the February minutes. Approval of these minutes is held over until the April meeting so that R. Wills (who was absent at the March meeting) could be pre-. sent in order to correct the parlimentary procedure inaccur- acy regarding the withdraws! of 'motions #9 and #0. Committee reports of February's meeting and March meeting were approved as circulated. Dr. Croll inquired about the ongoing education for Nurses at our hospital. THUNDER BAY WINS MIDGET CHAMPIONSHIP The Volunteer Pool team of Thunder Bay won the Northwestern Ontario Midget Hockey Championship held at the Terrace Bay : Arena, March 31st thru April 2nd. Teams participating were from Terrace Bay, Thunder Bay, Schreiber and Dryden. The semi-final game on Sunday morning found Schreiber and, Dryden tied 4 - 4 at the end of regulation time. No goals were scared by the end of ten minutes overtime and the teams were into four minutes and fourteen seconds of sudden death overtime when Dryden scored to win 5 - 4, The final game between Dryden and Volunteer Pool was a tense 3 - 3 at the end of the second period. Volunteer Pool forged ahead in the third period to win the game decisively by a score of 6 - 3. A highlight of the week-end was the Saturday SEES dinner, catered by the mothers of the Terrace Bay Midgets and attended by approximately seventy players. Branch 223 of the Royal Canadian Legion donated the Legion Hall and the Ladies! Auxiliary to the Legion donated the use of the kitchen and equipment. The dinner was financed by the Township of Terrace Bay, This joint effort was much enjoyed by the teams. The Ladies of the Terrace Bay Curling Club are to be com- mended for their hospitality on Friday evening. Due to inclement weather, the Dryden team arrived behind schedule, resulting in a late finish. After the game, several hungry boys were dismayed to find that all food establishments were However, the ladies! curling club, under the organization of 011ie Chapman, banded together at. the club and rustled up hamburgers and hot dogs for the Dryden- and Thunder Bay teams.
