He is survived by his son Jim of Terrace Bay and daughters - Kathleen (Mrs. K. Fraser) and Mrs. Mary Inkster, both of Rorketon, Manitoba; five grand- children. He was predeceased by his wife Johan. Removal has been made from the King Funeral Home, Schreiber to Rorketon, Manitoba for funeral services and interment. urling omments The winners of the fourteen rink Sweetheart bonspiel were Jack Chapman, Shirley Richards, Joe Pelto and Penny Blum. Second place went to George Dakin, Muriel Bartlett, Jack Rich- ards, Donna Peters and third to John Luomala, Barb Hopper, Brian Peters and Stieena Caldwell. The low (booby) prize was won by Hugh Brophy, Mary Dashkewytch, Barry Stephen and Bev Boutilier. Betty Randa received the heart-box of chocolates. Geoff Stevenson "hogged" most rocks and the "Instant Romance" created by Jeanine Desrosiers went to Ralph Regis. A social afternoon of curling, coffee, cookies and chat with the ladies of Schreiber Curling Club is being planned for late March. Watch this column for further details. ; PINEWOOD-BIRCHWOOD AUXILIARY MEETING Pinewood-Bi rchwood Auxiliary met Friday afternoon the 10th in Birchwood Terrace with the President, May Dorland in the chair. Minutes and the financial statement were given. Members were pleased to learn from correspondence with Mr. M. Vibert, Administrator, that $500. of the original $1000. given. by the former Schreiber Chapter of Pinewood Court, could be earmarked to assist with the Auxiliary's Audio-visual project. [t appears to be within reach now and application will be made for assistance from a Wintario grant. < Final plans for the Carnival Tea to be held Saturday after- noon, March 4th from 2 to 4 in Birchwood Terrace Recreation Room were completed. Peggy Thompson will convene, assisted by Elsie Cooke and May Dorland. A floral centrepiece would be ordered and used as a draw prize. The plans for a Robby Burns party had been cancelled due to the closing of the Home during a recent flu outbreak. It was decided to forego the St. Patrick's Day tea also as it co- incided too closely with the monthly birthday party. More plans were discussed for the Games Night at Birchwood Terrace on April 6th. It would be a social evening rather than a money making venture and tickets sold at 25¢ to those outside the residence would be limited to staff, family and friends who would attend. Supervisor of Nursing Care, Leona Angus, requested a con- tinuance of the Volunteer service to handle residents needing assistance to go to Doctor and Dental appointments and to have Lab work done.
