A letter was received from Mr. Leister, Executive Director; Thunder Bay District Health Council inviting us to participate at a gener- al meeting to be held on January 14th, 1978 in Thunder Bay to discuss the needs of outlying areas. Moved by Roland Wills and seconded by Ralph Blake that we send our Chief of Medical Staff, Dr. Croll, to a Basic Seminar for Chiefs of Medical Staffs to be held in Toronto on Jan. 18, 1978. Carried. Advertisements have been placed in various newspapers for a Medical Records Technicial. Arrangements for space in the hospital and liv- ing accommondations are underway. The Administrator reported that Dr. Wilkes conducted an In-Service Program on Cardiopul- monary Resucitation held on December 19th, 1977. The Medical Staff plan to continue an ongoing Medical Audit as this is one of the- requirements for accreditation. Recreation The Ministry of Culture and Recreation is pleased to welcome Mr. Gerry Dupas to its con-i sulting staff in Northwestern Ontario. Mr. Dupas will be responsible primarily for con- sulting within the District of Rainy River on the programmes and services of the Ministry of = Culture and Recreation. : The Ministry of Culture and Recreation pro- grammes and responsibilities include multi- culturalism and citizenship, arts, sports, . fitness, heritage conservation, museums, lib- raries and facility development. A native of Noranda, Quebec, Mr. Dupas re- ceived his early education there. He holds a diploma in recreation leadership from the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario. He has worked in the field of municipal recrea- tion in Manitouwadge and most recently as the a Director of Recreation for the Town of Terrace Bay, Ontario. He is married with two young children. Mr. Dupas will be based in the Dryden of- fice of the Field Services Branch, at the Ontario Government Building, Government Road, Dryden, Ontario, P8N 3B3. (807) 475-1255. TERRACE B AY POLICE DEPARTMENT JAN. 16 TO 22ND: During the past week, members of the Ter- race Bay Police Force were called upon to in- vestigate sixteen occurrences. & Six motor vehicle accidents were investigat 5 -ed with property damage estimated at $2,800. Two persons were charged with various con- treventions of the Liquor Licence Act and one Terrace Bay youth was charged with possession of marihuana during a routine spot check. The Terrace Bay Police Force still has five bicycles in the office which were found during the summer and early fall. Continued page 10 ....
