The Curling Season for 1953 got away to a good start on Monday, January 5th, 1953 at 7:00 p.m. at which time the Rinks were playing for the Imperial Benk Trophy. The follow- ing skips were victorious: Ed Pineault, Rune Ostling, Alex Sinkins and Jack Wellings. On Tuesday evening the following skips took the victories: Frank Ross, Alex MacDonald, Doug Harris and Harry Byers. 20 YEARS AGO - JANUARY 9, 1958 Congratulations to every employee for having achieved the best safety record since mill start-up in 1948. A Class G licence will be issued by NTC Toronto on the persons next licence renewals 1978-79 Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) will be coming out early in the new year for those who are already in receipt of this supple ment. The GIS fiscal year is from April 1 of one year to March 31 of the following year. When you receive your 78-79 GIS form, make eve effort to complete it as soon as possible and mail to Old Age Security.
