ROSSPORT SOCIAL: There is a steady trek to the countryside by the villagers to select and cut down their tree, before the snow becomes too deep. Some fine fir trees of all sizes are leaning a- gainst corners of houses to be taken indoors 4 few days before Christmas when all the fam- ily joins in the decorating. Some homes are already showing the spirit of Christmas with "their decorated windows and entrances. Everyone is looking forward to the Christ- mas tree and program arranged by the local Youth Club to take place on December 23rd. The senior and junior children, are busy prac- ticing their skits, carols and pantomines under the direction of Cathy Gerow and Devona »Leisander. Santa Claus has been invited to make an appearance following the program to distribute gifts from the tree. A buffet lunch follows and dancing is planned to tape recorder music to wind up the evening.s enter "=tainment. 4° Bill Hubelit has arrived home from the Par- isienne Island Lighthouse near Sault Ste. Marie for the winter months. Mrs. Anne Todesco has left to spend the "festive season with her daughter Miss Camilla "Todesco and other relatives in Toronto and her .son Jack and family in Sarnia. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Henderson have planned - a holiday over the Christmas season in Toronto _with relatives and take in some hockey games. Mr. and Mrs. Romeo Bouchard have a large ~family re-union planned over Christmas when san old fashioned Christmas dinner is planned. Mr. and Mrs. Pat Leisander and Devona are planning a visit with their son David and family in Thunder Bay a few days during the holiday season. \ oy J - The Pays Plat Indian Band is planning a turkey bingo before Christmas and hope to hold it in their new recreation hall. Other possible entertainments during the holiday season at the mission might be a Christmas tree and dance. All depends on the progress of the building. Mr. .and Mrs. Dave Mushquash are e¥pecting most of their family home for the festive season: Mr. and Mrs. Ron Lanigan, Eva-Marie, Sara Ann and Mary Ellen of Nipigon; Laurie Anne of Schreiber; Mr. and Mrs. Dave Iddison Jason and Jenny; Della Mushquash and Hilton Mushquash of Rossport. The only one missing will be Peter and his wife Toni of Sioux Lookout. : Miss Shirley Bouchard is working for a hair dressing firm in Vancouver: Mac Hubelit is planning a Christmas ho1i- day with his son Lionel and family and his daughter Mrs. Maxine Wahl and family in Wawa. The Altar Society of St. Berchman's Church are planning a crib outdoors in front of the church and a small one will be set up indoors as well. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Campbell and son Daniel plan a short holiday with friends at Thunder Bay. George Schelling is a patient in a Laken head hospital. Mrs. Schelling accompenied him and is visiting with Mrs. Ida Cliff. It is going to be like old times in Ross- port this New Year's Eve as the Rossport Volunteer Fire fighters are planning a New Year's Eve Ball, the first to be held here for over 15 years. In days gone by, the villagers always held both a Christmas and New Year's dance each year. The re-newing of this old established social activity brings back many happy memories of days gone by. The hall will be decorated for the occasion and coloured lights will add to the colourful scene of formal gowns. The dancers will enjoy live music on guitars, piano and violin by Leona Leisander, Patsy Gerow, Dave Mushquash and Jeffy Bouchard.
