VOL. 20 NO. 48 DECEMBER I4, z977 20¢ PER COPY SEAT BUCKLE UP On January lst, 1976, the mandatory use of seat belts came into effect in the Province of Ontario, their use was dramatically illustrated in the decrease of fatal and personal injuries accidents during this year. OUR FUTURE In 1977 injuries have again increased and is a result of the non-usage of personal restraint devices. Only a small proportion of people actually - use them; most do not for a variety of reasons: Fear they will be trapped ir in their vehicle, a belief that good drivers don't need them and others because they are just too much trouble. In an effort to curb the non usage of seat belts and hopefully to also slow the increase in injury accident, members of the Schreiber Detachment will be conducting spot checks of drivers within' the detachment area and more stringent enforcement will result for drivers and passengers who are - not wearing the seat belt assemblies which are installed in their vehicles. WHEN YOU START YOUR VEHICLE BUCKLE YOUR SEAT BELT THE LIFE YOU SAVE MAY BE YOUR OWN
